Fulfillment of promise and otherwise

Hadrat Zaid bin Arqam (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated that the Messenger of ALLAH (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, “When a man makes a promise to his brother with the intention of fulfilling it, but does not do so, and does not come at the appointed time, he is guilty of no sin.” [Abu Dawud]

Note: The point here is, while the intention was good some thing came in the way.
