Hadrat lbn Masud (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated that a man came to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) and said, “Messenger of ALLAH, what do you say of a man who loves a pious person because of his piety but who does not himself do as many good deeds as the former?” He said, “A man will be with him whom he loves (i.e. his love for the pious person will be repaid)” [Bukhari]
